Ann-Marie MacDairmid - Director


Shoreline Chorus Director, Accompanist and Conductor Ann-Marie MacDairmid is a native of Thornbury, Ontario. She has an honours BMus from Wilfrid Laurier University and a MMus in organ performance from the University of Western Ontario.

As well as being an organist, Ann-Marie is an accomplished pianist, percussionist and choral conductor, working in a wide variety of musical genres including Classical, Spiritual, Gospel, Motown, Doo-Wop, Big band, Jazz and Blues, World folk music, African music, Disco, Broadway, Movie and Canadian music.

Ann-Marie is currently the accompanist for the Grand River Chorus (GRC) of Brantford. In 2010 the GRC toured Germany, Prague and Austria.

In September 2012 Ann-Marie and Karen James started the Apple Valley Youth Chorus in Clarksburg sponsored by CIBC Wood-Gundy and the Thornbury-Clarksburg Rotary Club. Youth from ages 5 to 14 participate in the program.

Ann-Marie serves as assistant organist at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church in Kitchener. She performs solo recitals and accompanies instrumental and vocal performers at St. Andrew’s regular noon hour concerts throughout the year. Her programming reflects an eclectic musical taste, the most noted being her “Hallowe’en Special”. Other solo organ programs feature themes ranging from dazzling pedal solos to ragtime to gospel preludes.

In December 2010 Ann-Marie was awarded a Paul Harris Fellow from the Thornbury-Clarksburg Rotary Club for service in Rotary and in the community. In October 2011 and February 2013 Ann-Marie was nominated for an Owen Sound Cultural Award in the Music category.

In January 2013 Ann-Marie and a few friends formed the Queen Street Singers (QSS), singing spirituals, light pop and jazz. As a supply organist, Ann-Marie has played for many church services throughout Southern Ontario.
